About Scope Cycling

Scope Cycling develops its carbon wheels in the Netherlands, and the range is laid out in two directions at once. Across, there are three series, Artech, Race and Sport. Down, every series is offered for the riding it was shaped for: road for paved racing, all-road for fast roads that turn to gravel, gravel for pure gravel bikes, and triathlon for racing against the clock. Picking a Scope wheel starts with where the riding happens and how much of Scope's newest technology the build calls for.

Artech is the top of the range and carries all of it. The hubs are topology optimized and 3D-printed in Germany, the rims carry Scope's Aeroscale surface structure and Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics, and every wheel is laced with Carbonlite Aerospokes and engages through the 36T Diamond Ratchet SL. The Artech 2 weighs 965 grams for the set, the Artech 4 and Artech 6 add 45 and 65 mm of depth for all-round and aero riding, the .A versions widen the rim to 25 mm internal for 30 mm tires, and the Artech 4.G is a 28 mm internal hookless gravel wheel. For time trials and triathlon there is the 85 mm Artech 8.T, the monocoque Artech Disc and the new three-spoke Artech Tri Spoke.

The Race Series, or R-Series, is derived from Artech and built from the same engineering. It uses the proven Artech rim profiles without the Aeroscales, steel spokes and R-Series hubs with a mechanical labyrinth seal that keeps dirt out of the bearings. The R4 and R6 run a 23 mm internal hooked rim for 28 mm tires, the R4.A and R6.A open up to 25 mm internal for 30 mm tires, the R4.G is the hookless gravel wheel, and the R8.T and Race Disc bring the same approach to time trial and triathlon racing.

The Sport Series carries proven technology from Scope's previous generation of carbon wheels: a 26 mm wide tubeless rim, 3-pawl hubs, custom bearings and steel aero spokes, hand-built to the same standard as the Race Series. The S3, S4 and S5 come in 30, 45 and 55 mm depths with disc brake and rim brake versions, and the S4.A widens the rim to 30 mm for all-road tires.

Dragonspine Cycling is a stocking dealer for Scope Cycling, with the wheels and the parts that keep them running, from freehub bodies, Diamond Ratchet kits, bearings and ceramic bearing upgrades to spokes, tubeless tape and valves. Scope demo wheelsets are at the Chicago location at 4357 N Milwaukee Ave, the place to talk through freehub standards, tire widths and setup, or call +1 (872) 946-7006. FAQ

What is the difference between Scope Artech, Race Series and Sport Series?
Artech carries Scope's newest technology: 3D-printed hubs, Aeroscale rims and Carbonlite Aerospokes. The Race Series uses the same rim profiles without the Aeroscales, with steel spokes and labyrinth-sealed hubs. The Sport Series uses proven technology from Scope's previous generation and is the only series with rim brake versions.
What do the numbers and the .A, .G and .T in Scope model names mean?
The number points to the rim depth: 2 for 22 mm, 3 for 30 mm, 4 for 42 to 45 mm, 5 for 55 mm, 6 for 65 mm and 8 for 85 mm. .A marks all-road wheels with a wider rim for 30 mm tires, .G marks gravel wheels with a 28 mm internal hookless rim for 40 mm tires, and .T marks triathlon and time trial wheels.
Which freehub body is needed?
Shimano HG for Shimano 11 and 12-speed road and SRAM 11-speed cassettes, SRAM XDR for SRAM 12-speed road and gravel, Shimano Microspline for Shimano 12-speed mountain cassettes, Campagnolo for Campagnolo 11 and 12-speed, and Campagnolo N3W for Campagnolo 13-speed. Scope freehub bodies are also sold on their own for a later switch. Call +1 (872) 946-7006 to confirm before ordering.
Are Scope wheels hookless?
Only the gravel models. The Artech 4.G and R4.G use a 28 mm internal hookless rim for hookless-approved tubeless tires up to 4.0 bar / 58 psi. The Artech and Race Series road, all-road and triathlon wheels use a hooked rim rated to 8.6 bar / 125 psi for tubeless or clincher tires.
Can a Scope demo wheelset be ridden in Chicago?
Yes. Scope demo wheelsets are at the Chicago location, 4357 N Milwaukee Ave. Call +1 (872) 946-7006 to book a ride or to spec a set.
